Membership
Buy the tow before the tow.
Boat towing memberships are bought through TowBoatUS at boatus.com, and a membership takes effect at midnight following sign-up.

What it costs, and what a call costs without it
- An Unlimited freshwater TowBoatUS towing membership costs about $130 a year
- A single non-member call typically runs $300 to $500
Member-covered services are towing, soft ungroundings, battery jump starts and fuel delivery. Those are paid 100% by BoatUS with no paperwork; on a fuel delivery a member pays only for the fuel itself.
The BoatUS app has a red “Request a Tow” button that automatically sends your GPS location for faster, more accurate assistance.

What membership does not cover
Salvage is not covered by any towing membership and is normally paid by the boat owner’s insurance. We work directly with carriers and adjusters on authorization, scope and billing.
A soft ungrounding is a boat that is upright, undamaged, surrounded by water and freeable in about fifteen minutes with one boat and one line; anything else is salvage, and the captain says which it is before a line goes on.

Anywhere you boatA BoatUS membership works nationwide — the same towing coverage applies anywhere you boat in the U.S.
Not a member?
You can still call.
Non-members are served at posted rates, quoted before the boat leaves the dock. Salvage work is quoted as insurance-assigned on fixed-price or time-and-materials scopes, and most carriers can be billed directly.
BoatUS runs 24/7 dispatch on 800-391-4869, and boaters can also raise help on VHF Channel 16
